LOGLINE

PROTANGIONST CORE WOUND / MOTIVATION 

  • Had to leave behind a family member, doesn’t want to relive the pain and memories of leaving someone else behind. He wants to find the missing person to not only save himself from grief but also to prove to himself that he is capable of saving someone. In a way, he almost sees it as honoring or apologizing to his late family member, showing that he has changed into someone who is no longer willing to leave someone behind.

PLOT DESCRIPTION (FILM)

  • The story begins with a survivor running through the woods from the enemy cyborgs. She is saved by Javier after a close encounter and reunites with the rest of the group.
  • The protagonist, Javier, reunites with the bigger group and fights the cyborgs alongside them. He discovers that a group member has gone missing and calls for the group to join him in searching for them. They engage in a heated argument in which one of the survivors mentions Javier’s late sister. This enrages Javier, as he breaks into a speech about never leaving people behind, as he could not bear the pain of losing another person as he had lost his sister. The group hesitantly acquiesces and chooses to follow their leader, as they have nothing and nowhere left to go.
  • The group then treks through the forest in search of their missing member. Despite searching for hours, and tracking footprints in the dirt, their efforts remain fruitless. As the sun begins to set and night falls upon the darkened forest, Javier is ready to accept that he must leave this person behind. When all hope seems lost, they suddenly hear a shout in the distance; one that everyone seems to recognize. They rush over to find their friend being attacked by a cyborg. It is quickly terminated and the group rushes to check on their friend. The man with whom Javier had argued previously now shows his respect toward him, affirming him that he was indeed correct in staying persistent. The story ends with the group running off into the forest in search of safety, now reunited with their friend.

TREATMENT (FILM)

  • The world in this story is cruel and unforgiving. AI has taken over and has begun to attack the human population. Society as we once knew it has fallen, leaving any survivors from the initial incident to fend for themselves. The survivors look exactly how you would expect: rough and beaten down, messy and unkempt. Minimal supplies and weapons will show how scarce these valuable resources have become.
