PROTANGIONST CORE WOUND / MOTIVATION
Had to leave behind a family member, doesn’t want to relive the pain and memories of leaving someone else behind. He wants to find the missing person to not only save himself from grief but also to prove to himself that he is capable of saving someone. In a way, he almost sees it as honoring or apologizing to his late family member, showing that he has changed into someone who is no longer willing to leave someone behind.

PLOT DESCRIPTION (FILM)
The story begins with a survivor running through the woods from the enemy cyborgs. She is saved by Javier after a close encounter and reunites with the rest of the group.
The protagonist, Javier, reunites with the bigger group and fights the cyborgs alongside them. He discovers that a group member has gone missing and calls for the group to join him in searching for them. They engage in a heated argument in which one of the survivors mentions Javier’s late sister. This enrages Javier, as he breaks into a speech about never leaving people behind, as he could not bear the pain of losing another person as he had lost his sister. The group hesitantly acquiesces and chooses to follow their leader, as they have nothing and nowhere left to go.
The group then treks through the forest in search of their missing member. Despite searching for hours, and tracking footprints in the dirt, their efforts remain fruitless. As the sun begins to set and night falls upon the darkened forest, Javier is ready to accept that he must leave this person behind. When all hope seems lost, they suddenly hear a shout in the distance; one that everyone seems to recognize. They rush over to find their friend being attacked by a cyborg. It is quickly terminated and the group rushes to check on their friend. The man with whom Javier had argued previously now shows his respect toward him, affirming him that he was indeed correct in staying persistent. The story ends with the group running off into the forest in search of safety, now reunited with their friend.
TREATMENT (FILM)
The world in this story is cruel and unforgiving. AI has taken over and has begun to attack the human population. Society as we once knew it has fallen, leaving any survivors from the initial incident to fend for themselves. The survivors look exactly how you would expect: rough and beaten down, messy and unkempt. Minimal supplies and weapons will show how scarce these valuable resources have become.
Very seldom do you meet someone with such talent at such a young age as Zayvier. In my former team, Zayvier exceedingly fulfilled the role of editing our team’s films. Zayvier’s ability to track and blend elements is unlike anyone else I’ve ever worked with. As well as his editing talents, his sense of humor, work ethic, and outgoing personality make him a very fun and easy person to work with. Regardless of whatever employable role you are looking to fill, Zayvier is my number one recommendation.
I want to create a death metal music video that incorporates depictions of war that coincide with the lyrical content between performance shots. I will know if I successfully met my goal if we create an enticing and coherent music video with incorporated war footage. I do think this goal is achievable if I hold myself accountable and apply myself 100% into this project. I am setting this goal because I want to learn how to create interesting and unique music videos.

I was the director for this film. I focused on directing the cinematographer to achieve my desired end result. I set up the stills and close up shots as well as setting up the lighting. I have had editing experience in the past, so I also edited my own cut of the music video, focusing mainly on fast cuts and transitions between shots. I chose to edit the film in black and white because I felt that it fit the dark atmosphere the song provides.
POST-PRODUCTION – REFLECTION
21st Century Skills
Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)
One of the ways I had to problem solve was having to relearn the editing software I used in a short amount of time. Jumping back into editing after years of having not done so was a challenge.
Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)
Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)
Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)
Reactions to the Final Version
The lighting was well done and consistent throughout every shot. The cuts and edits felt somewhat meaningless and started to all feel the same after a certain point. Some shots would have benefitted from having been let to linger a little while longer.
Self-Evaluation of Final Version
I agree with the editing critiques. I will admit the editing was a bit rushed due to the limited amount of time I had on the computer at home, and also because of having not edited any videos on the program I used in 6 years.
Despite everything, I am mostly satisfied with the final result; it was born through the labor of love for the music I have created, and I look forward to creating more and growing as a filmmaker in the future.
NOT SMART —> I want to learn how to direct actors and cinematographers in an action film while filming fight sequences. I will know I successfully met my goal if the actor’s actions are shown to have purpose and the cinematographer’s choices compliment the film. I believe this goal is achievable if I research efficiently. I am setting this goal because I want to learn how to become a better director. <—- FIX IN PROJECT TRACKING SHEET (PTS), FIRST THEN COPY AND PASTE HERE.
